Buenes tardes familia Profaizer November 28th 2011

Nov. 28, 2011

Hola Familia:)

Coma esta, estoy muy bien y muy muy muy feliz, gracious a mi pardre celestial y mi muy bueno compano:) Translation: hello family, how are you? I am very good and very very very happy, thanks to my Father in Heaven and my really good companion. Wow, this week has flown by. We have been working our butts off to make our goal of 23 people to stake conference and ya, we failed. We had 29 people with names and almost every member committed to bring someone, but in the end, we only had 7 there and one of the 7 can’t get baptized for like 10 years. (so I was pretty disappointed but I’m just grateful for the 7 we did have). It seems like we worked really hard, physical invitations, daily contact that is super hard. This week has been one of the most tiring weeks of it all but it was really good. I just gotta say, I’m really happy it’s p-day. So this week, I actually have things to tell you. First off, I had to laugh when I heard about Karly commenting on the blog. I can tell you what it says without looking at it. Yes, I am getting fatL Oh well, though believe it or not I’m now losing weight again. I’m now exercising at night too and it’s working. They all laugh because I show them pictures from before and I guess Karla is googling me.

So this week, I had another chance to exercise my talents. I may not be able to speak Spanish good but an investigator was trying to fix his clothes washer because some mice or rats got in and chewed the wires so it wasn’t working. My companion told the investigator that I was good with stuff like that, so long story short, we got there and I ended up rewiring his clothes washer for him and guess what…it works now to!

Also something that hit home with me really close this week was a verse in the Book of Mormon. 2nd Nephi 29:3 where they are saying they don’t need any more Bible. Wow, that’s so true out here. They are always saying they have a bible and don’t need any more bible. All of Chapter 29 is so so so true. It’s amazing. You all need to go read it. Oh, as for Dad’s questions YES I RECEIVED A GREAT PACKAGE THIS WEEK with a recorder in it. Gosh I loved loved loved hearing Sarah’s voice. I love her! Wow it makes me so happy also getting a Salted nut roll. Haha, I was so super stoked about that. I’m saving it for a special time, maybe for Christmas. I’m not sure yet. Thank you so much for everything in the package. It was greatJ American Candy is great especially lemon heads and grape heads. I love those. About the phone call on Christmas. There is a couple of ways to do it. The best way I can think of is just to call our house cell phone. I don’t know times or anything yet but I’ll let you know times and stuff, but the best way to do it is probably just get an international phone card and call me. If you have any other ideas, let me know. We have 4 weeks to figure it out. We won’t stress the little things. That’s one thing I’ve learned out here. Nothing ever goes to plan, so just be patient and don’t stress the little things. We had a great Thanksgiving actually, it wasn’t much. I sent pictures of it. We made signs and burn it, ate tuna. That’s the closest thing to turkey we had and I got Oreo’s.

Me and my new companion, well I guess he’s not new, this is his 3rd week here. We get along really well. He’s really great and is teaching me lots. I’m getting really lucky. I wonder when my luck will run out and I’ll get a REAL piece of crap companion. Ugh, hopefully, it’s far in the future when I’m more patient and can deal with it better.

I love you all so much. Thanks for your letters and pictures.

Love, Elder Profaizer

Dear Sarah

Hey you, I’m so glad to be able to send you a quick note. Thank you so much for that recorder. It was the best thing EVER!!! I loved hearing your voice. It made my whole week, well longer than that. I’m going to try to record something so I can send it next week so you will hopefully get something before you are gone to the other side of the world. I hope you get it in time. I love you lots,

Love, Elder Profaizer

4 BAPTISMS Nov 21, 2011

Well, hello everyone, how are you? Another week has just flown past with my new companion. His name is Elder Hancock from Utah and we get along great! He has 21 months in the mission and it is so cool to see that he is still just as excited now as he was at the start. He is so smart and helps me so much in all that I do and is always giving me advice. I was pretty sad when I heard that Elder Shannon was getting changed but we figured he would only be here for a minute just to change the program around in my sector. I’m kind of bummed he didn’t get to see our baptisms….wait, that’s weird to say, haha, YEAH, THAT’S RIGHT! MY FIRST 4 BAPTISMS! This is so crazy. I’m so happy, I baptized Karla Ponce. She is 16 and my companion baptized her little brother, Luis Ponce who is 13. Our bishop baptized Zuly Ponce and Cory Castrol baptized Patricia Ponce. Wow! What a special day. I was so nervous though, I couldn’t eat after, I was still so upset. I had to put her under twice because her foot came up and the second time, I held her foot down with mine just like Dad did to me in my baptism. Haha, wow, it was crazy. They are all so happy and they are members of our church. They are so great! I’m so so so happy right now. Also kind happy it’s over. Planning a baptism is super hard, haha, I was so stressed, but we had all the support in the world from our members. All of our members are so sweet and helpful. Wow! Also, so this upcoming Sunday is Stake Conference and our mission President is coming. WOW, I’M SO STOKED! So our zone had a meeting with him Tuesday night and all our sectors put goals to bring people to the conference and everyone were putting 15, 18,20. I started adding numbers up in my head and I had this awesome idea, well it wasn’t an idea, it was a revelation. I know it and 23 just came into my head and I asked myself how is that possible because to get that many there actually, you have to invite 46 people because only half will come. But my idea was, instead of contacting people ourselves, I just decided to work with members. So we have been formally going to members houses and teaching lessons to them and then telling them our goals for 23 people. We have asked them to bring a minimum of 1 person to the meeting. Well guess what, they are LEGIT!! Some people are committing to more and they are thinking and wanting to invite whole families and if it all works out, we will have over 23 people. I know we can do it! The reason this conference is so critical is because when the President talks, he is POWERFUL! And he invites anyone who isn’t baptized to become members and they do it. That’s the coolest part!!! We can have so much success, I want success so bad now that I’ve had a little taste of it. I have so much energy. I just wanna go go go I’m so happy, haha wow.
Wow also I’m soooo happy to hear about you guys at home. It really sounds like you are receiving so many blessings and that makes me so happy also. Wow, just to hear that you guys are getting work and doing well. Your attitudes are amazing. That is so key to being happy. If you have a bad attitude, you can win the lottery and still not be happy, but if you have a good attitude, you can knock on doors, have people be mean to you and still go to sleep with a smile on your face. Just look for all those little things that make you happy. So the other day we got stiffed for lunch so we were kinda bummed but I gotta tell you, it was my favorite lunch. We went to the little Panderia by our house. Got some bread and some coke and we ate bread and coke and played cards in the house. It was really great. Believe it or not, that held us over better than anything else. God is blessing all of us so much. I’ll continue to try my best so that we can receive blessings. I love you all so much:) Thanks for everything:)
Love, Elder Profaizer:)

November 14th

Dear Family! :)

Wow, what is happening. The weeks are flying faster then I can think out here. I forgot that today was p-day again, haha. This week has been great. We have 3 sure baptisms and one reschedule this Saturday if I’m still here. There are changes this week. (I hope I’m here so bad, cuz if I leave, then they don’t count as my baptisms, dang it.) Oh well, haha I’m so happy busy. I don’t know if I’m going to say a lot today cuz I spent a lot of time sending pictures, haha,. I hope you like them. This week has been so crazy fast and this next week will be even faster as we prepare for the noche banco: (white night) This baptism will be so special for them. They are all brothers and sisters. It is so cool. They are all so happyl.

My Spanish is getting tons better every day. It’s like a snowball effect. The more you learn the faster you learn so these last three weeks I feel like I’ve doubled my Spanish. Not so much the vocabulary but just making my sentences flow better and all the conjugations. Today I start my 3rd change. I can’t believe how fast this is going, it gets faster every week. I was thinking the other day about how I haven’t thought about work or cars for so long. I really just wake up in the morning thinking about our people and go to sleep thinking about them and how to help them. It’s so cool to me. Tell Kirby hi for me, and that I hope I have a job when I get home. He was really great to me and taught me a lot about everything from construction to cars to just everything. A lot of basic knowledge and how to think of better quality ways to do things and how to do it more efficiently. I’m so grateful for that job.

I was super excited that Crumps bought out Murdock. That really needed to happen. This is such a blessing for you, Mom. You need to stay there and work through all the bad days cuz you can’t beat working there. You get great hours, good pay and you work with Mormon people also.

Everyone, be so grateful for your blessings. Christmas is coming up and really, they don’t have any traditions that I know of yet. I got a bunch of letters this week though. I was so excited two from you guys and two from Sarah.

I gotta tell you, I have been really trying to use my talents to help people. I had the opportunity to clean family Ponce’s dishes so Elder Shannon could do the interview with the lady because she was running low on time. But that’s not my talent, as I was cleaning, one side of her sink was draining realllllly slow. I thought I’d look at it and just thought, this is so easy, I’ll fix it. So I just threw a giant bowl under it and started screwing stuff and, well long story short, her drain is like new and she was so grateful. Neither she nor her brothers knew how to do it. Something really simple but they appreciated it so much. I felt super good after. Well that’s pretty much all for this week. I love you all so much.

Love,

Elder Profaizer

Dear Sarah,

It was super exciting to get 2 letters from you this week. I was soooo happy. I loved them. I can’t write much, we still gotta go shop and eat haha, but you have letters coming every week. I can’t believe that you’re going to Jerusalem in 50 days. I have the day you leave marked on my calendar. Sarah, I love you so much and think about you all the time. Thank you for everything you say in your letters and all your great support. Love you lots. Love, Elder Profaizer
